For quite a few years, BOTOX was the leading neurotoxin for Des Moines women and men. However, it’s no longer the only product that can smooth out wrinkles and relax contractions in your face. Jeuveau is the first new neurotoxin to get FDA approval in more than a decade, earning the nickname Newtox. While its manufacturing process is a bit different, it offers powerful anti-aging abilities very similar to those found in BOTOX.
So how can you decide which product is right for you? In this blog post, we’ll discuss what you need to know about the differences between the 2 options, from their effects to their costs.
Does Jeauveau Work as Well as BOTOX?
The effects of BOTOX and Jeuveau are essentially the same. They’re both FDA-approved injectable neurotoxins that relax specific muscles to smooth out dynamic wrinkles. Crow’s feet, glabellar lines, and forehead lines are highly treatable with these injections.
There are some subtle differences between their uses, however. Jeuveau is indicated only for cosmetic purposes, while some formulations of BOTOX can be used for sweating, migraines, and other conditions.
How Long Does It Take Jeaveau and BOTOX to Kick In?
Like BOTOX, Jeuveau offers a quick treatment time and very little downtime. Appointments typically take less than 30 minutes and allow you to quickly return to your daily activities. The biggest timeline difference between the 2 options is that BOTOX starts to take effect between 3 days and 2 weeks following the procedure, whereas Jeuveau takes effect between 2 to 10 days post-treatment.
The effects of both BOTOX and Jeuveau usually last for 3 to 4 months, at which point you can extend your results with a quick touch-up appointment. With regular treatments, you may find that your results start to last as long as 6 months.
How Much Does BOTOX Cost vs. Jeuveau in Des Moines?
The costs of BOTOX and Jeuveau depend on the number of units injected. Unlike Jeuveau, BOTOX is part of the Allē program that allows loyal users to earn rewards and discounts with each treatment.
It’s important to remember, though, that pricing shouldn’t be your primary concern when you’re selecting a product or treatment. Your desired result should be your guide. Choosing procedures based on price alone can lead you down a disadvantageous path, as we discussed in our previous blog post.
Making the Choice
As you can see, the differences between these products are fairly minor, so it’s important to consult with a provider who can explain how they’ll affect you personally. When you visit our practice for a neurotoxin consultation, we will happily discuss both options to help you decide which product may be right for you. For more complete rejuvenation, we may also recommend pairing your BOTOX or Jeauveau injections with dermal fillers as part of a “liquid facelift.”
Because these products are safely interchangeable, you don’t have to stick with the same choice forever. Whether you are new to neurotoxins or you are a routine BOTOX user, you’re free to try Jeuveau at your next appointment.
