No matter the quality of our skincare, many of us experience sun or environmental damage that leaves blemishes we would like erased. Most topical products cannot reach the deeper layers of the skin where damage and wrinkles begin. Laser skin resurfacing at our West Des Moines, Iowa, practice with the Sciton Halo hybrid fractional laser system can do what skincare products cannot – address deeper damage for a noticeable improvement in the texture, tone, and quality of your skin. We are pleased to be the first practice in the Midwest to offer these treatments to our patients from Ankeny, Ames, and surrounding communities.

To learn more about the results you can get from our Halo laser, please request a consultation or call our office at  (515) 277-5555. Our surgeons and licensed aestheticians look forward to meeting you to discuss how we can help achieve your cosmetic desires.

About the Halo Laser

A patient being treated with HALO laser skin resurfacing.

The Sciton Halo laser is a hybrid fractional laser, which means it administers both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths of laser energy to targeted areas of the skin. Understanding the difference between these 2 types of wavelengths is important to understanding how Halo works.

Ablative lasers remove the thin, damaged outer layers of skin, sending the skin’s healing processes into overdrive and revealing the softer, more radiant skin beneath. Although ablative laser treatments often require several days of recuperation, their results on lines, wrinkles, scars, and discoloration can be quite significant.

Non-ablative lasers keep the surface skin intact while directing energy precisely to underlying areas of tissue. They penetrate more deeply into the skin than ablative lasers, reaching the deepest pigment, causing increased collagen production, and tightening skin. Non-ablative lasers, including the Sciton MOXI® laser, are also associated with less overall downtime after the treatment.

How Much Do Halo Laser Treatments Cost in Des Moines?

At our West Des Moines practice, the price of Halo laser skin resurfacing depends on the treatment area and your aesthetic goals. During your consultation, you will receive a personalized quote.

What Are the Benefits of a Halo Treatment?

The Halo laser administers both types of wavelengths to combine the best of both worlds — the benefits of an ablative laser with the downtime of a non-ablative laser. Halo treats a variety of conditions, including:

  • Sun damage
  • Rough or uneven texture
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Scars
  • Hyperpigmentation or dark spots
  • Large pores

Are There Other Options?

Prior to your treatment, a qualified member of our medical team comprehensively evaluates your skin and listens to your objectives. A customized treatment plan is developed according to your wishes and skin type. Depending on your goals, we may recommend another treatment, such as:

Regardless of the treatment you ultimately choose, we work hard to ensure that your results safely and comfortably achieve the outcome you had in mind.

Halo Procedure

Halo laser treatments are unlike other laser treatments at our Des Moines facility. Depending on your goals, your treatment may be as short as 15 minutes or longer than an hour.

During your procedure, one of our surgeons or a qualified member of our medical staff applies the laser handpiece to the area of your skin that you’d like to target. Laser energy is then directed through the handpiece directly to the irregularities or wrinkles you’d like to treat. The Halo laser system incorporates advanced technology to constantly measure the temperature of the skin and energy applied, ensuring a safe treatment every time.

To enhance your skin’s regeneration process, we may complement your laser treatment with platelet-rich plasma therapy. This innovative and versatile treatment uses your own concentrated blood platelets to help rebuild your skin’s supportive structures.

Recovery

Following treatment with Halo, recuperation is much shorter than that of a traditional ablative laser. We advise patients to avoid sun exposure for the first week after treatment, but patients can often resume their normal daily activities, including the application of makeup, in just a day, depending on the level of treatment.

As the skin heals, new, softer skin develops, and collagen production ramps up. The results of your Sciton Halo treatment are long-lasting and beautiful.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The Halo laser allows us to customize each treatment for the patient’s needs and desired downtime. Most patients attain their desired results with 1 or 2 treatments. If you’d like a treatment with less downtime, you can choose to undergo a series of multiple, less intense treatments to achieve your aesthetic vision.
