Koch & Carlisle Plastic Surgery & Spa is pleased to offer injectable medical weight loss treatments, Semaglutide and Tirzepatide, combined with lifestyle coaching to maximize results. Dr. Katie has been specially trained to bring these exclusive weight loss injections to our patients from Des Moines, Ames, Ankeney, Davenport, and beyond.
What Are Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?
Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are modified versions of peptides that occur naturally in our bodies. When combined with a healthy diet and exercise, they have been proven to support weight loss.
Injections of Semaglutide or Tirzepatide, also known as GLP1 injections, help stimulate the body’s insulin production and lower glucagon production, resulting in lowered blood sugar and slower digestion. Originally identified to treat diabetes by controlling blood sugar, Semaglutide and Tirzepatide have since been shown to be an effective weight loss tool for people of all ages without diabetes.
These peptides can be taken alone or combined with other supplements to enhance results.
How Do Weight Loss Injections Work?
Semaglutide and Tirzepatide work by stimulating insulin production in the pancreas after you eat, which slows the process of emptying your stomach, signaling to your body that you are full. This reduces your appetite and controls blood sugar levels, helping you lose weight. When you feel less hungry, it is easier to control cravings and stick to a healthier diet. Eating less and exercising more help support your weight loss efforts.
Benefits of Weight Loss Injections
- Most patients lose 2-4 pounds per week
- Reduced appetite
- Decreased insulin resistance to help burn fat and boost energy
- Safe & effective weekly injections
Are Weight Loss Injections Safe?
Yes! Injections of Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are very safe for men and women of all ages. Like any medical treatment, it is important to ensure you follow your provider’s instructions to achieve the best results.
Dr. Katie is board-certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. She will oversee your care. Your health and well-being are our top priority, and Dr. Katie will work with you to help you achieve your goals.
Am I a Good Candidate for Weight Loss Injections?
During your consultation, Dr. Katie will discuss your medical history, current health status, current medications, and lab test results with you to ensure you are a good candidate for weight loss injections of Semaglutide or Tirzepatide before prescribing treatment.
Dr. Katie will develop a customized weight loss treatment plan designed to suit your needs. During your consultation, she will provide an overview of the treatment plan, dosage, and safety considerations. She will schedule regular follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and response to treatment and make dosage adjustments as needed.
What Are Weight Loss Injections Like?
Semaglutide and Tirzepatide can be self-administered at home or administered in the clinic. Self-administering Semaglutide or Tirzepatide offers our patients the flexibility to take their medication according to their prescribed schedule without the need for healthcare professional assistance for every dose.
Once you have been approved for weight loss treatments, we will ship your prescription to your home. We typically provide a 3-month supply of Semaglutide or Tirzepatide, fine needles for subcutaneous injections, and cleansing pads. It’s important to follow the instructions we provide to ensure the medication is administered safely and effectively.
It is very important to maintain regular follow-ups with our office to allow us to monitor your progress, address any concerns, and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.
It is also important to maintain a healthy diet while taking weight loss injections. We recommend you avoid foods that are high in sugar and fat, which can be hard for your body to digest, and can increase the risk of side effects.

In rate cases, patients with hypoglycemia or kidney problems have experienced more severe side effects. Some patients have experienced allergic reactions, which is why it is important to have regular follow-ups with Dr. Katie.
